We are planning to open branches in other parts of the country. Samaritans Offering Support is looking for individuals that will be dedicated to managing these new branches in their community.
Summary
The Samaritans Offering Support (SOS) mission is to help the middle-class with catastrophic medical expenses. We are non-denominational and non-disease specific. SOS hopes to serve 70,000 people annually and has a nationwide community of more than one million people.
The SOS advancement team delivers a comprehensive development program to create, nurture, and grow relationships and resources that enable SOS to accomplish its mission of building teams, transforming health systems and changing lives through a donor-centric, nationwide strategy.
The Area Development Manager (ADM) position works collaboratively with national advancement leadership, regional board leadership, volunteers and staff. The ADM builds on organizational development frameworks to achieve fundraising goals including, but not limited to, relationship building, cultivation and solicitation of prospective and existing donors, and related annual fundraising activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
•Create, direct and execute the development plan to raise $300,000 to $1,000,000 annually in area revenues for the SOS mission. Grow area fundraising to achieve development objectives.
•Conceptualize, plan and implement a comprehensive development program, including the formulation of annual goals and objectives for individuals, foundations, corporations, organizations/associations and government constituencies.
•Direct and execute constituent strategies, including personal solicitation of gifts, peer-to-peer cultivation and solicitation, call programs and events in the region to reach fund raising goals. Manage and support area major gifts and planned giving programs.
•Lead the area plan and collaborate with the national advancement team, the Center Executive Director, Center Board Members, Development Committee and other volunteers to build relationships, solicit gifts and achieve revenue goals.
•Establish and maintain standards of performance essential to optimizing regional fundraising potential.
•Direct systems and reporting, including use of Salesforce.com database to manage constituents, track progress to goals, process and acknowledge gifts, and recognize donors. Provide regular reports on progress against the fundraising plan.
•Work with the team in the development and implementation of annual fundraising and cultivation events.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
•Own a large portfolio of constituents, including personal solicitation of gifts on a weekly basis. Expectation of 200 donor visits annually.
•In partnership with Executive Director, manage solicitation cycle and Executive Director fundraising involvement.
•Lead the Board and volunteer leaders in all fundraising work and initiatives.
•Direct and manage constituent strategies locally, including peer program, planned giving, direct mail, online fundraising, call programs, events, invitational expeditions, etc.
Knowledge and Skills
•Entrepreneurial, results-driven style and ability to identify and implement creative approaches to development.
•Interpersonal skills and versatility to effectively build relationships across a broad spectrum.
•Ability to work in a collaborative environment with regional program staff and trustees, at the same time participates in, and be part of a centralized national SOS advancement team.
•Ability to communicate the SOS mission effectively to gain support from the community.
•Proven ability to perform under tight deadlines and meet strict financial goals
Education and Work Experience
•Bachelor’s Degree, with 2 years of direct development experience.
•In-depth knowledge of, and experience in, the region’s philanthropic communities is required.
•Experience with donor information systems, records, research, and prospect management and tracking functions, gift processing and acknowledgements and donor relations (Salesforce.com preferred).
•A record of annual giving, special events, corporate, foundation, and government grant support programs.
•Experience working with senior level executives and volunteer leaders in a professional environment.
